GHI methodology
The GHI (Global Hunger Index) method measures and tracks hunger levels worldwide. It combines several indicators—such as undernourishment (people not getting enough calories), child malnutrition, and child mortality rates—to assess hunger in each country. These data points are standardized and weighted to produce a single score, allowing comparison across countries and regions. The results classify countries into categories from low to alarming hunger levels. This methodology helps policymakers and organizations identify areas needing urgent intervention, monitor progress, and allocate resources effectively in the effort to reduce global hunger.
