Ghettoization
Ghettoization refers to the process where certain groups, often based on ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or religion, become concentrated in specific neighborhoods or areas. This often results from social, economic, or discriminatory factors and can lead to limited access to resources, opportunities, and integration with the broader society. Over time, ghettoization can reinforce social divisions, reduce mobility, and create environments with higher poverty and fewer services. While it may originate from deliberate segregation or economic pressures, it often perpetuates cycles of disadvantage for residents of these areas.
