Gherman Titov
Gherman Titov was a Soviet cosmonaut who became the second person, after Yuri Gagarin, to orbit Earth in 1961. At age 25, he made a 25-hour spaceflight, demonstrating humans could survive and operate in space for extended periods. His mission tested life support systems, conducted scientific experiments, and helped evaluate the effects of space travel on the body. Titov’s successful flight was a significant step forward in human space exploration, contributing to NASA’s later missions and advancing our understanding of living and working in space environments.
