Ghazal form

A Ghazal is a traditional poetic form originating from Arabic poetry, often used in Persian, Urdu, and other South Asian languages. It consists of a series of rhymed couplets (two-line stanzas) that share a common rhyme scheme and refrain. Each couplet is a standalone thought or idea, yet collectively they explore themes like love, longing, loss, or spirituality. The form emphasizes musicality, emotion, and wit, often incorporating repeated phrases and a consistent rhythm. Despite its formal constraints, a Ghazal allows for deep personal expression within each self-contained couplet.
