GH antagonists

Growth hormone (GH) antagonists are medications that block or reduce the effects of growth hormone in the body. GH is responsible for stimulating growth and cell regeneration; however, excess GH can cause conditions like acromegaly, where bones and tissues thicken abnormally. GH antagonists, such as pegvisomant, work by preventing GH from activating its receptors, thereby lowering certain hormone levels and alleviating symptoms. They are used to manage hormone overproduction, improve symptoms, and prevent complications associated with excessive GH secretion, acting precisely on the molecular pathways involved in growth hormone regulation.
