Gestuno

Gestuno is a standardized sign language developed in the 1970s to enable communication among members of different national sign languages. It consists of a set of common gestures and signs that can be understood universally, regardless of a person's native sign language. Think of it as a basic, international "lingua franca" for sign language users, facilitating basic understanding in situations like international events or gatherings. While it helps bridge language barriers, it is not a substitute for fully developed national sign languages, which are rich and culturally specific.
