German Railways (Deutsche Reichsbahn)

Deutsche Reichsbahn was Germany's state railway company, operating from 1920 to 1945, and again in East Germany from 1949 until reunification in 1994. It was responsible for passenger and freight rail services across Germany, playing a key role in transportation, economy, and mobility. Post-World War II, East Germany's Deutsche Reichsbahn continued under government control, distinct from West Germany's Deutsche Bundesbahn. After reunification, the two systems merged into Deutsche Bahn AG, Germany's modern national railway company. Deutsche Reichsbahn's history reflects Germany's political and technological changes over the 20th century.
