German High Seas Fleet
The German High Seas Fleet was the main naval force of Germany's Imperial Navy from 1906 to 1918, composed of large battleships and cruisers. It was created to rival the British Royal Navy's dominance and protect Germany's interests abroad. During World War I, the fleet mostly stayed in port to avoid provoking Britain, but it engaged in key battles like Jutland. After Germany's defeat, the fleet was surrendered and dismantled under the Treaty of Versailles. The High Seas Fleet symbolized Germany's growing naval power in the early 20th century and its role in the naval arms race.
