Germ cell neoplasia in situ
Germ cell neoplasia in situ (GCNIS) is a condition where abnormal cells develop in the testes, which have the potential to turn into testicular cancer. These cells originate from germ cells—the cells responsible for producing sperm—but they haven't yet formed a tumor. GCNIS is considered a precursor to invasive testicular cancer, particularly types like seminoma and non-seminoma. Detecting GCNIS early is important because it allows for monitoring or treatment to prevent the development of full-blown cancer later on.
