Gerakan Reformasi

Gerakan Reformasi, or Reformasi Movement, began in Indonesia in 1998 as a response to widespread political corruption, economic decline, and authoritarian rule under President Suharto. It mobilized citizens, students, and activists demanding democratic reforms, transparency, and accountability. The movement led to Suharto’s resignation, ending over three decades of his presidency, and prompted significant political changes toward a more open and democratic system. Reformasi also aimed to address social inequalities and increase civil rights, shaping Indonesia’s modern political landscape by fostering greater public participation and governance accountability.
