Georgia Historical Commission
The Georgia Historical Commission was a state agency responsible for preserving and promoting Georgia’s historical heritage. It managed historical sites, monuments, and archives, and supported efforts to educate the public about Georgia’s history. Established to ensure that important historical landmarks and stories are maintained for future generations, the commission worked with local communities, historians, and preservationists. While it played a key role in fostering historical awareness, it is now part of the Georgia Historical Society, which continues similar preservation and educational initiatives today.
