George Wald
George Wald was an American scientist who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1967 for discovering the role of vitamin A in vision. He studied how our eyes detect light and how vitamin A is essential in forming the molecules that capture light in the retina, allowing us to see. Wald's research helped explain the biochemical processes behind vision and advanced understanding of eye health. His work also contributed to knowledge about vitamin A’s importance for overall health, including immune function and cellular health.
