George VI

George VI was the King of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth from 1936 until his death in 1952. He became king unexpectedly after his brother, King Edward VIII, abdicated the throne. Known for his leadership during World War II, he aimed to bolster national unity and morale during difficult times. Despite initial struggles with a speech impediment, he worked to connect with his people. His reign included the decolonization of Africa and the strengthening of the Commonwealth. George VI was also the father of Queen Elizabeth II.
