George F. Smoot
George F. Smoot is an American astrophysicist known for his work in cosmology, particularly in studying the cosmic microwave background radiation, which is the afterglow of the Big Bang. He played a key role in the NASA mission called COBE (Cosmic Background Explorer), which provided crucial data supporting the Big Bang theory and helped measure the temperature fluctuations in the early universe. For this work, he shared the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2006. His research enhances our understanding of the universe's origin, structure, and the fundamental laws governing its evolution.
