Georg Ernst Stahl
Georg Ernst Stahl was a 17th-century German chemist and physician known for developing the phlogiston theory, which proposed that combustible materials contain a substance called phlogiston that is released during burning. His work marked an important step in the history of chemistry, leading towards a better understanding of combustion and oxidation. Although his theory was later replaced by modern understanding of chemical reactions, Stahl's research helped lay the groundwork for scientific inquiry into how materials change through chemical processes.
