geocentric theory
The geocentric theory is an ancient idea that Earth is at the center of the universe, and all the planets, stars, and the Sun revolve around it. It was widely accepted for centuries because observations seemed to support it, with the Sun and stars appearing to move around a stationary Earth. However, later scientific evidence, especially from astronomers like Copernicus and Galileo, showed that the Sun, not Earth, is at the center—leading to our current heliocentric understanding. The geocentric model helped early astronomers organize observations but was eventually replaced by more accurate models.
