GEO

GEO, or geostationary orbit, is a position in space where a satellite orbits Earth at the same rate the planet rotates. This means the satellite stays fixed above a specific point on Earth's equator, providing continuous coverage of that area. GEO satellites are commonly used for weather monitoring, television broadcasts, and communications because they offer reliable, consistent signals. The orbit is approximately 35,786 kilometers (22,236 miles) above Earth’s surface, allowing the satellite to appear stationary relative to a fixed point on the ground, which simplifies data transmission and reception.
