Genus and Species
In the biological classification system, "Genus" and "Species" are two key categories used to identify and categorize living organisms. The Genus is a broader group that includes species that are closely related and share common characteristics. For example, the Genus "Canis" includes dogs, wolves, and foxes. The Species is more specific, referring to a particular type of organism within that Genus. For instance, within the Genus Canis, "Canis lupus" is the species name for wolves. Together, they provide a unique scientific name (e.g., Canis lupus) that helps accurately identify organisms.
