Genpei War
The Genpei War (1180–1185) was a conflict in Japan between two powerful samurai clans, the Minamoto and the Taira, vying for control of the emperor and government. It marked a pivotal shift from aristocratic rule to the samurai-led Kamakura shogunate. The war featured famous battles like Dan-no-ura, culminating in Minamoto victory. This victory established the samurai as Japan’s dominant political force, shaping the country's medieval era and influencing its military and political structure for centuries.
