Geneva Summit
The Geneva Summit, held in 1985, was a meeting between U.S. President Ronald Reagan and Soviet General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev. It marked a significant step toward easing Cold War tensions by fostering dialogue and mutual understanding between the two superpowers. The summit focused on reducing nuclear arms and improving diplomatic relations, setting the stage for future arms control agreements. Although no immediate agreements were reached, it was an important diplomatic breakthrough that helped to de-escalate hostilities and promote cooperation during a tense period in international relations.
