General William C. Lee
General William C. Lee was a pioneering American military leader in the U.S. Army during World War II. Known as the "Father of the U.S. Airborne," he played a key role in developing parachute infantry tactics, helping to establish specialized airborne units for rapid, flexible military operations. Lee’s innovative strategies contributed significantly to the success of airborne assaults in the war. Tragically, he died in a plane crash in 1942 before seeing the full impact of his efforts. His leadership and ideas laid the foundation for the specialized airborne forces that continue to serve today.
