General Ratko Mladić
Ratko Mladić is a former Bosnian Serb military leader, known for his role in the Bosnian War (1992-1995). He commanded Serb forces and was implicated in war crimes, including the Siege of Sarajevo and the Srebrenica massacre, where thousands of Bosniak civilians were killed. His actions contributed to ethnic violence and suffering during the conflict. In 2017, Mladić was convicted by the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, and sentenced to life imprisonment. His case highlights issues of accountability for atrocities committed during that complex and tragic period.
