General Partners (GPs)

A General Partner (GP) is an individual or entity responsible for managing an investment fund, such as a private equity or venture capital fund. GPs make investment decisions, oversee the fund's operations, and actively work to grow the investments. They typically contribute some capital but mainly earn management fees and a share of the profits, called carried interest. GPs assume most of the financial and legal risks of the fund and have the authority to buy, sell, or manage investments on behalf of the fund’s investors, who are known as Limited Partners (LPs).
