General Lavr Kornilov
Lavr Kornilov was a Russian military leader during the early 20th century, notably involved in the tumultuous period surrounding the Russian Revolution. He served as the commander of the Russian Army and was known for his strong nationalist and authoritarian views. In 1917, he attempted a military coup against the provisional government, aiming to restore order and counter socialist forces. This action, known as the Kornilov Affair, heightened political instability and contributed to the weakening of the government, ultimately leading to the Bolsheviks' rise to power. Kornilov later became a prominent figure in the White Army during the Russian Civil War.
