Gene transcription

Gene transcription is the process where the information stored in a gene's DNA is copied into a molecule called messenger RNA (mRNA). This occurs in the cell nucleus and involves an enzyme called RNA polymerase, which reads the DNA sequence and creates a complementary RNA strand. The mRNA then serves as a blueprint for making proteins, guiding the cell on how to assemble amino acids into specific structures. Transcription ensures that the genetic instructions in DNA are accurately transferred to the cell's machinery for protein production, playing a crucial role in gene expression and cellular function.
