Gear

A gear is a rotating machine part with teeth that interlock with other gears to transmit torque and rotational motion. Gears are used in machinery to change the direction of movement, increase force, or adjust speed. When one gear turns, its teeth push against another gear’s teeth, causing that gear to turn as well. This interconnected system allows precise control of mechanical power in devices like bicycles, clocks, car transmissions, and industrial equipment. Gears can be different sizes, which affects how fast or forceful the movement is, making them essential for efficient power transfer in many mechanical systems.
