Gd3+

Gd³⁺, or gadolinium ion, is a form of the element gadolinium that has lost three electrons, giving it a +3 charge. It’s a rare-earth metal often used in medical imaging, specifically as a contrast agent in MRI scans, because it interacts strongly with magnetic fields. Gadolinium’s unique properties help produce clearer, more detailed images of tissues inside the body. Although Gd³⁺ can be toxic in its pure form, when bound to other compounds, it becomes safe for use in medical diagnostics.
