Gazzaniga (Michael Gazzaniga)

Michael Gazzaniga is a prominent cognitive neuroscientist known for his research on how the brain’s hemispheres (left and right) communicate and function independently. He studies split-brain patients—individuals whose brain hemispheres have been surgically separated—to understand how each side processes information and contributes to consciousness and behavior. His work has revealed that the two hemispheres have specialized roles, such as language being primarily handled by the left.
