Gavriil Ilizarov

Gavriil Ilizarov was a Soviet orthopedic surgeon who developed a revolutionary method for treating complex bone fractures and deformities. His technique involves using a specialized external frame, called an Ilizarov apparatus, made of metal rods and wires, to gently stretch and realign bones over time. This method allows for precise correction of deformities, lengthening bones, and facilitating healing in cases where traditional surgery might not be effective.
