Gaulish religion

Gaulish religion, practiced by the Celtic tribes in ancient Gaul (modern-day France and surrounding areas), was polytheistic, worshipping multiple gods and goddesses associated with nature, war, fertility, and the other elements of life. Druid priests held a central role, conducting rituals and serving as intermediaries between the gods and people. Sacred groves, rivers, and mountains were important sites for worship. Their beliefs emphasized the cycle of life, death, and rebirth, and they venerated ancestors. The arrival of Roman culture in the 1st century BCE led to significant changes and eventual merging of Gaulish practices with Roman religion.
