Gastroenterology trainees
Gastroenterology trainees are doctors specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions related to the digestive system, including the stomach, intestines, liver, and pancreas. They typically complete medical school and a residency in internal medicine before undergoing additional training, called a fellowship, focused specifically on gastrointestinal health. These trainees learn to perform clinical evaluations, interpret diagnostic tests like endoscopies, and develop treatment plans. Their goal is to become experts in managing disorders such as acid reflux, Crohn’s disease, hepatitis, and colorectal cancer, ultimately providing specialized care to improve patients' digestive health.
