Gastric Plication
Gastric plication is a type of weight-loss surgery that reduces the size of the stomach to help patients lose weight. During the procedure, the surgeon folds the stomach inward and sutures it in place, creating a smaller pouch that limits the amount of food you can eat. This results in a feeling of fullness after consuming smaller meals. Unlike some other weight-loss surgeries, gastric plication does not remove any part of the stomach or involve bypassing the intestines. It is generally considered less invasive and has a shorter recovery time, while still promoting significant weight loss.
