Gast

A gast is a medical procedure involving a surgically created opening called a stoma in the abdomen to the stomach, known as a gastrostomy. It allows for direct access to the stomach for feeding or drainage when a person cannot eat normally due to illness, injury, or medical conditions affecting swallowing. The opening is usually maintained with a tube (gastrostomy tube) that provides nutrition, fluids, or medication directly into the stomach. This method helps ensure proper nutrition and hydration, improving quality of life for individuals with significant swallowing difficulties or gastrointestinal issues.
