Gas Warfare

Gas warfare refers to the use of toxic chemical agents in military conflicts to harm or incapacitate enemy forces. This tactic gained prominence during World War I, where gases like chlorine and mustard were deployed to create panic and suffering. Unlike traditional weapons, gas attacks could affect not only soldiers but also civilians, causing long-term health issues and psychological distress. The inhumane nature of chemical weapons led to international agreements, like the 1925 Geneva Protocol and the Chemical Weapons Convention, aimed at banning their use and ensuring a more humane conduct in warfare.
