Gas discharge lamps

Gas discharge lamps create light by passing an electric current through a low-pressure gas or vapor inside a glass tube. The electricity excites the gas particles, causing them to emit photons (light). Different gases produce different colors; for example, neon glows red, while mercury vapor emits blue-green light. These lamps are energy-efficient, long-lasting, and widely used in street lighting, signage, and specialized applications like UV sterilization. They operate at high voltage but are highly effective at producing bright, vibrant illumination with minimal power loss.
