Gas diffusion

Gas diffusion is the process by which molecules move from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration, driven by their natural tendency to spread out evenly. This movement occurs due to the random motion of molecules, resulting in mixing without the need for external forces. In practical terms, it explains how oxygen disperses in the lungs for absorption, or how perfume scent spreads through a room. Diffusion is fundamental to many natural and industrial processes where the mixing and distribution of gases occur spontaneously.
