Gary Ridgeway, known as the Green River Killer, is a convicted serial murderer responsible for the deaths of at least 71 women, mainly Prostitutes, in Washington State between the 1980s and 1990s. He targeted vulnerable women, often strangling and disposing of their bodies in the Green River area. Ridgeway was convicted in 2003 after matching DNA evidence to the crimes. His case revealed disturbing patterns of violence and exploitation, leading to increased awareness and changes in police investigation techniques for serial crimes. He is serving a life sentence without parole.
