The Garo are an indigenous ethnic group primarily found in northeastern India and parts of Bangladesh. They have a rich cultural heritage, with their own language, traditions, and social structures. Traditionally, the Garo society is matrilineal, meaning lineage and inheritance pass through women. They are known for their vibrant festivals, dance, music, and craftsmanship, especially bamboo and cane work. Many Garos practice agriculture and fishing for livelihood.
