Garden Leave
Garden leave is a period during which an employee, usually after resigning or being asked to leave, is instructed to stay away from work but remains under contract and continues to receive their salary and benefits. This period typically occurs while the employer arranges for a smooth transition or to protect sensitive information. During garden leave, the employee can't work for a competitor or start a new job, but they are still officially employed and are usually expected to be available if needed. It helps employers manage employee departure professionally while safeguarding business interests.
