Gandhi's views on Caste
Gandhi believed that the caste system, especially the practice of untouchability, was a social injustice rooted in discrimination. He saw it as a division that harmed India’s unity and moral progress. Gandhi advocated for respecting all castes, reuniting communities, and treating everyone with dignity. While he accepted the traditional four varnas as a division of labor, he opposed the rigid, discriminatory aspects, particularly untouchability. His goal was to create an inclusive society where all individuals, regardless of caste, could live with equal rights and respect.
