Gamow-Teller transition
A Gamow-Teller transition is a specific type of nuclear process where a proton in an atom's nucleus transforms into a neutron, or vice versa, by exchanging a type of particle called a beta particle. This process involves changes in the nuclear spin and the orientation of particles' internal spins (called "spin flip") while also changing the type of nucleon. It is important in radioactive decay and nuclear reactions, helping us understand how elements change and how energy is released in nuclear processes, playing a key role in stellar phenomena and nuclear physics.
