Gamilaraay

Gamilaraay is an Indigenous Australian language spoken by the Gamilaraay people of northeastern New South Wales and southern Queensland. It is part of the Pama–Nyungan language family and has a rich cultural significance, reflecting the history, stories, and connection to the land. Although fewer speakers remain today, efforts are ongoing to revive and preserve the language through education, community programs, and linguistic documentation. Gamilaraay exemplifies the importance of Indigenous languages in maintaining cultural identity and providing a window into the worldviews of their communities.
