Galton's Heritability
Galton's heritability is a way to measure how much of the variation in a trait, like height or intelligence, among individuals is due to genetic differences. It ranges from 0 to 1: a value closer to 1 indicates genetics play a strong role, while nearer to 0 suggests environmental factors are more influential. For example, a heritability of 0.6 for height means 60% of the variation in height within a population is attributable to genetic differences. It helps scientists understand the relative contributions of genes and environment to traits, but it does not predict individual outcomes.
