Galley
A galley, in general knowledge, refers to a type of ship propelled mainly by oars and often used in ancient and medieval times for trade, warfare, and exploration. Characterized by a long and narrow hull, galleys were efficient in shallow waters and could maneuver quickly. They typically had a crew of rowers and were armed with cannons or other weapons for combat. In publishing, "galley" also describes a preliminary version of a document, often used for proofreading before final printing. Both uses of the term emphasize preparation and utility, whether on the sea or in the editorial process.
