Galician
Galician is a Romance language spoken predominantly in the autonomous community of Galicia in northwestern Spain. It evolved from the Latin spoken by the Romans and shares a historical connection with Portuguese, stemming from the Galician-Portuguese language spoken in the Middle Ages. Galician is recognized for its rich literary tradition and cultural significance, often reflecting the unique identity of Galicia. While it is similar to Portuguese and Spanish, it has distinct phonetics, vocabulary, and grammar, making it a unique language within the Romance language family. Today, Galician is co-official alongside Spanish in Galicia.
