Gadaa System
The Gadaa System is a traditional social and political system used by the Oromo people of Ethiopia. It functions as a democratic age-set organization that governs leadership, community decisions, and social responsibilities through a structured, cyclic process. Every eight years, leadership roles are passed to the next group, ensuring continuity and collective participation. It also includes cultural rituals, conflict resolution, and customary laws that promote social cohesion and identity. The Gadaa System emphasizes consensus, age-based roles, and communal decision-making, playing a vital role in maintaining social order and cultural heritage for the Oromo community.
