The Gabrieli family was a prominent Italian family of musicians during the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods. Giovanni Gabrieli (c. 1554–1612) was a renowned composer and organist known for his innovative use of space and early Baroque techniques. His nephew, Andrea Gabrieli (c. 1532–1585), was also a distinguished composer and organist. Both contributed significantly to the development of sacred music and brass ensemble techniques, influencing European music. Their works are celebrated for their richness, clarity, and inventive use of instrumentation, and they played a crucial role in the transition from Renaissance to Baroque musical styles.
