Gabriel Prosser

Gabriel Prosser was an enslaved African American and a skilled blacksmith who led a planned rebellion in 1800 near Richmond, Virginia. His goal was to stage a large uprising to fight for freedom and end slavery. Although the conspiracy was discovered before it could happen, it highlighted the unrest and desire for liberty among enslaved people.
