G1 Phase (of Cell Cycle)
The G1 phase is the first stage of the cell cycle, where a cell prepares to divide. During this time, the cell grows in size, produces the necessary proteins and organelles, and monitors its environment to ensure conditions are suitable for division. It acts as a checkpoint, checking for damage and making sure everything is in order. Once the cell has grown enough and is ready, it moves on to the next phase, called the S phase, where DNA replication occurs. G1 is essential for maintaining healthy cell growth and ensuring accurate division.
