George Henry Lewes was a 19th-century British philosopher and literary critic known for his work on understanding human nature and consciousness. He emphasized the importance of scientific inquiry into mental processes, believing that psychology should study how thoughts, feelings, and perceptions develop through natural laws. Lewes was also a close associate and partner of writer George Eliot.
